Jet is a very hard form of natural carbon – close, in mineral composition, to coal. It is, in fact, fossilised wood from the ‘monkey-puzzle tree’. It is used for protection and is known as the ‘stone of the witches’. Worn around the neck, usually with Amber, it protects from the entities of darkness, against illness and violence. There is a lot of superstition surrounding this mineral and it is said that those attracted to it are ‘old souls’.
