The January full moon on Sunday (24th) is often referred to as the wolf moon. Winter has taken full hold and with many hours of cold and darkness, it’s a time when our bodies and minds are adjusting to the depths of the season. As animals are hibernating, we ourselves our going through something similar. This is the time to devote yourself to your spiritual path and your inner work. Many of us will have made resolutions in the New Year so use this period to strengthen your resolve and become realigned with your innermost desires for the coming year.
If you can, try and devote some time to yourself on Sunday. Perhaps read something that could help you on your path, or write a journal for the year so far. During the day, prepare a sacred space for your ritual. If you have an altar, adorn it with things that emanate positive energy to you. If you work with crystals, consider:
Sodalite – eliminates confusion and enables us to find our truth in all situations. It calms and clarifies and assists us in unblocking rigid thought patterns.
K2 Stone – helps to analyse thoughts and separate intelligent thoughts from fight or flight responses. An excellent aid for promoting inner and outer peace.
Smoky Quartz – promotes calm and inner understanding. Supports in releasing old negativities.
On the night of the full moon, stand by your altar or sacred space and spend some moments deep breathing, relaxing the muscles in your body and allowing your mind to slow down. When you feel ready, raise your arms upwards and imagine the bright powerful moon bathing you in white protective light. Visualise the moon energy coming down and reinvigorating your spirit and thoughts with positivity and strength. Feel this vibrant lunar energy making its way through your body, bringing alive your energy centres and flowing back down into the earth. Gradually bring your hands to your sides and spend as much time as is comfortable, enjoying this flow of lunar energy. Thank the moon for its divine light.
By now you will feel relaxed and invigorated. Spend some time now writing down your desires for the coming month. Where would you like your focus to be? Ask for the moons support in keeping you on track in the coming weeks. When you have completed your list, you can either place it on your altar/sacred space, put it under your pillow or put it outside somewhere safe overnight to be bathed in the moons light.
Take time out regularly during this winter period and use the time to really explore and nurture the inner you. You are amazing <3 x
